Both Deceased Students Revealed in Brown University Incident as Police Persist in Search for Perpetrator.

Two students who were killed in the recent violent attack on the university campus were honored at the start of the week – amid a widespread hunt for their shooter persisted following the release by authorities in Rhode Island of the only individual detained in connection in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

Umurzokov’s identity was verified by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. His ambitions were lofty of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and assisting patients,” his sibling Samira said in a online post.

What Happened

Nine other people were hurt in Saturday’s attack in the engineering department of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Law enforcement reported on Sunday evening that a man aged 24 taken into custody in a raid at a Hampton Inn about approximately 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was being released.

“There is a killer at large,” said Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you must reassess and pursue a different angle, and this is precisely what occurred over the last 24 hours or so.”

Public Fear

Brett Smiley, Brett Smiley, admitted: “We know that this is likely to cause renewed concern for our community”.

The shooter began shooting inside a room in the building on Saturday, firing more than 40 rounds from a handgun, a authority reported to the news agency.
