Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the early names in the frame to replace Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolves.

Pereira was dismissed on Sunday following the team's 10-match winless beginning to the Premier League campaign.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have historic links to the club - are part of the names to be evaluated by the club leadership.

Edwards is currently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a possible obstacle to his hiring at Molineux.

Nevertheless the former Luton Town manager - who played more than 100 of games for the club during his time as a player - is said to be a strong candidate for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys support from the Wolves board as they begin the search of hiring a fresh head coach.

O'Neil is also emerging as a unexpected candidate, even though he would be a surprising appointment given he was sacked by Wolves in the previous winter.

The ex- West Ham United player is out of work which means Wolves would not need to provide any buyout fee.
