England Coach Southee Unsure on The Ashes Availability
The bowler's most recent Test for New Zealand was versus England in December 2024.
England's bowling consultant Southee is currently evaluating what his involvement will be at the forthcoming Ashes series in the host nation.
The former Kiwi seamer is only likely to be available for the first Test because of his participation in the ILT20 tournament, which starts on December 2 in the UAE.
The 36-year-old, 36, assumed a role as England's pace bowling advisor in the summer after claiming 391 scalps in 107 Tests for the Kiwis.
Commenting as England's squad for the opening of three T20 matches against New Zealand was announced, Southee stated of his participation: "We're still working through the situation at the present time.
"We will determine the outcome over the coming days."
England bowling legend Broad had stated the Australia side as their "worst team since 2010", but the consultant was in little doubt over what to expect during the series, which begins on 21 November.
"I don't think there's ever a poor Aussie side," he remarked.
"The team's attention is squarely on our own objectives. I think the caliber of [the English] team that's going out to Australia is brilliant.
"It should be an absolute cracker, the Ashes. Not only [are|do] fans from both nations looking forward to it, I believe the whole cricket world is."
But, prior to England head to the city of Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they take on New Zealand in Christchurch on Saturday.
