Fans Demand Custody of Person Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Loyal supporters of the actress are demanding that a individual who jumped a barricade and seized the actress during Thursday's Wicked: For Good premiere be detained or removed from Singapore.
A circulating clip depicts the individual from Australia shoving aside photographers and rushing toward Grande while the cast proceeded down a promenade surrounded by fans.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo immediately pulled the shocked star away from Mr Wen, who was seen being escorted out of the gathering by security officers.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "released after being taken in", though legal records revealed that he was due to appear on the following morning. It is not clear if he was charged.
Record of Event Invasions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram account features recordings of him disrupting other star-studded functions, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the area last December.
"Steps should be implemented applied against him as this is evidently a punishable act," wrote an Instagram commenter, in a response to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" a different Instagram user questioned.
Followers Voice Worry Over Ariana's Well-being
Numerous fans blamed Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had spoken of dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her spring 2017 concert in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming many.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" said another response on Instagram.
A number of fans also criticised security officers at the premiere for not being adequately prepared; while different individuals called for online networks to remove Mr Wen's uploads.
Aftermath and Event Details
In videos shared widely, Grande appeared surprised when she was approached by the individual. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen reassuring her while Mr Wen was removed by guards.
Grande has remained silent on the event, and the rest of the event proceeded as normal.
Many of fans had assembled in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific premiere in a Singapore mall, including a number who had stood in line for as long as a significant duration before it began.
The film, to be premiered on November 21, is the follow-up of a two-film version of the well-known Broadway and West End show Wicked, which centers on the unexpected bond between two distinct sorceresses.
The production itself is a derivative of the 1900 story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was decked out in a champagne pink sequin dress at the event while Erivo, who acts as the villainous character, wore a sleek black dress embroidered with roses.
They were alongside cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful motion picture of 2024 in the UK, and earned 10 Academy Award nods, winning two for excellent wardrobe and production design.
