Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Battles Singer Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions

Arsenal's 10-game winning streak came to an end by Sunderland before the international break, however will the English top division frontrunners bounce back against local foes Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," remarked football specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still manage to win."

The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against artificial intelligence, readers and a variety of guests.

For the twelfth round, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

The singer's latest record, Knees Up, is available on Friday.

Football and Family Life

Murs is a skilled footballer as well as a accomplished singer and has been a star of several charity football matches over time - but he is not planning a serious return as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a benefit match the other evening for a mate of mine," he said. "The team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my child or boy chooses to play instead."

The singer and his wife Amelia Tank have two children, Madison and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their manager.

"I won't push football on our children but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their Saturday soccer side," he said.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly owned a soccer team for a period too.

"My dad coached with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He managed our team for two or three years and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to be patient for their star's return from fitness issues but their offense is already more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this fixture will be quite tight, however. The Clarets are well organised and their sole at Turf Moor losses so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

It suggests a one-all tie to me, but I am in fact going to choose Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third league win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

The singer's pick: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have been defeated in their past two games - although both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

In contrast, West Ham won two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear competitive again.

The Hammers' sole away victory this season came at Nottingham Forest in August, when their boss Nuno was previously Forest coach.

Therefore, what on earth do I predict here - will it be the Hammers extending their run under their manager, or the home side responding?

I will choose the Cherries, because I believe what happened against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

Olly's prediction: Bournemouth are doing well but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the frontrunners for relegation before the campaign started, but they have impressed a several observers under their manager and are in fine fettle with three in their past four games.

My son told me to select Brentford forward Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks back and, guess what, I ignored the advice.

The forward will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am still not going to select him or support Brentford at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had much success on the road this season, and Brighton are consistently strong at home. The visitors will try to attack on the counter-attack but I think the home manager's team pose much more of a threat.

The analyst's prediction: 2-1

The singer's view: It could be a match where you think there is going to be a many scores but it actually proves to be rather close. 1-1

The computer's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive game for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six matches.

Fulham have got lots of talent in their squad but it nonetheless seems like they could be dragged into a drop zone fight.

As for the Black Cats, well they are the unexpected success of the Premier League campaign so far.

The away side's performance in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We have not seen any other team rough up the Gunners like that this season, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing to do to support the visitors here, because they are clearly able of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the end of October.

But I am not going to do that. Instead, I truly need to continue opposing Sunderland with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good results because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.

Considering Fulham's at Craven Cottage form, the sole team they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's team will be absolutely desperate for a good result, so I am going to say they will pick up three much-needed points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I'm aware the visitors are doing well and also that the hosts are on a poor streak... but Fulham have nonetheless been decent at home this season. 2-0

AI's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a hard fixture to predict. The Reds have lost seven of their past 10 games in every tournament, but could they be among the sides who profit from the {international break|
