Suspected Stalker Questioned: 'However Suppose I Could Be Madeleine?'
A female accused with pursuing Kate McCann allegedly left her a voicemail message which questioned: "suppose I am Madeleine?"
Julia Wandelt, 24, who court testimony revealed has consistently asserted she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are on trial charged with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February the current year.
On Monday, Leicester Crown Court was told phone records and evidence retrieved from phones recorded Ms Wandelt persistently demanding Madeleine's mother for a biological test throughout 2023 and 2024.
Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - at the age of three during a vacation in Portugal - is considered the most widely reported investigations and continues to be open.
'I Do Not Need Money'
One phone message, presented in court, recorded Ms Wandelt saying: "I realize I'm heavy and not pretty like Madeleine used to be, but I feel what I feel."
While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's monologues with Mrs McCann's recording expressed: "Imagine there is a small chance that I am Madeleine? Then what? Isn't that significant for you?"
"I don't want money, I maintain a living here in Poland, I simply desire to know," the recording stated.
The panel was advised that through emails, text messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt asked for a biological test, sent childhood photos to her phone in a effort to show a similarity to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and asserted to have "memories" from a early life with the McCanns.
Robert Jones, an intelligence analyst with Leicestershire Police who collated the data, told the court there "seemed to lack any responses" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt additionally reached out to close associates of the McCanns, as per the phone records.
On October 9th, 2024, Gerry McCann answered a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "a wrong number."
That day Ms Wandelt recorded a voicemail on Mrs McCann's answerphone declaring "I will persist and I will prove my point."
The court learned Mrs Spragg developed a association online with Ms Wandelt prior to accompanying her on a trip to the McCanns' residence in that area in December 2024.
