The Renowned Musician Urges Support to Send Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A charity drive is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort seeks to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian cultural expression.
A Chance for Solidarity and an "Surprise Victory"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a chance to show solidarity with Palestinians during the holidays. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he commented. “I won't be completely disheartened if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”
Resilient Spirit of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.
“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti explained. “The essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Recording Origins and Contributing Musicians
The song was recorded after a large-scale benefit event held in September. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the performance was cut from the show due to the event running long.
The impressive roster of musicians appearing on Lullaby encompasses a selection of well-known figures from the scene. All were part of the earlier concert, which managed to collect a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was crafted by a group of producers and composers. The track features a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with freshly written English words.
The group managing the campaign have emphasized that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These resources will be distributed to Palestinian causes through an established charity.
“We haven't set a specific target,” a representative explained. “We aim for as much as possible. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”
The context in the region was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of infrastructure reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.
“Given that reality, a few million is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is above all making this cause better known and proving the human dimension of the story.”
The track is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the charity concert will be made accessible to view on a digital service from mid-December.
